Death by Scrabble was hand-drawn on paper, then inked in a brush pen before being photographed and put on the computer. Adobe Photoshop was then used to colour and treat the drawings, which were layered and later composited in Adobe After Effects. After all of the special effects had been added (also in After Effects) the film was edited using Adobe Premiere.

The film is filmed at 12 frames per second, and is approximately 5 minutes long without titles. This means that there were approximately 3,600 individual drawings made, not to mention storyboards, sketches and character designs. No wonder forests don't like animators!
