Aaron Wood
www.aaronwood.co.uk

Aaron is a web designer and animator (specialising in stop motion). He makes up the other half of Slurpy Studios is an all round thoroughly nice bloke.

Verbal Vigilante Music
www.verbalvigilantemusic.com

Jode Steele and David Wainwright are taking the world by storm with their original music compositions. They composed the score for my film Death by Scrabble, and are currently in the process of being the next big thing.

Charlie Fish
www.fictionontheweb.co.uk

Author of Death by Scrabble, Charlie’s online site features many of his original short stories and poems, which offer a fresh and sometimes slightly perverse take on life. An excellent author.

Animation Festivals

Brit Films:
http://www.britfilms.com/

The most complete listing of film festivals that I’ve found, and very easy to navigate.

Bradford Animation Festival (BAF)
http://www.baf.org.uk/

My all time favourite British festival; BAF has the best screenings, the best guests and the best events that I’ve seen yet.

AniFest Canterbury
http://www.canterburyanifest.com/

Canterbury may be a new festival, but it’s started well and with Michelle Moubarak at the helm, I know it’ll go from strength to strength.

Aurora
http://www.aurora.org.uk/

The festival to go to if you like your films arty and enjoy walking around with a slightly bemused look on your face.  Great festival, great atmosphere- just don’t expect to see Wallace and Gromit.

Animated Exeter
http://www.exeter.gov.uk/animatedexeter/

For me, Exeter is the best festival to go to if you’ve got kids that are looking at getting in to animation.

Making a Film

Voice Overs
http://voice123.com/

Cannot recommend this site enough if you want a voiceover for your film. Submit a script and a budget and voice actors will record some lines for you, so that you can pick. Very fast, very professional, very simple to use.

Shooting people
http://shootingpeople.org/

Very good resource to help you get your films made and then seen

Sound effects
http://www.sounddogs.com/

Thousands upon thousands of sound effects ready to use.

Researching Animation

Animation Research Center:
http://www.ucreative.ac.uk/

Europe’s biggest animation archive is based in Surrey, and holds the work of Halas and Batchelor and Bob Godfrey amongst others. I worked in the archive between 2003 and 2007, and still continue on a consultancy basis.

Radar Music Videos
http://www.radarmusicvideos.com/

Aims to bring filmmakers and musicians together to create music videos of great awesomeness. Good place to pitch for commissions.

Animation World Network
http://www.awn.com/

First place to look for animation news on the web.

Big cartoon database
http://www.bcdb.com/

Like the Image Move Database (IMDB), only for animation.
